James Cogswell diaries, 1781-1791.

Diaries kept by Rev. James Cogswell while pastor of the church in Scotland, Connecticut. The diaries contain general notes about the day's activities. Cogswell was born in Saybrook in 1720, studied at Yale, and was ordained in 1744. Prior to Scotland he served in Canterbury, Connecticut. Following his retirement from Scotland, Cogswell lived with his son, Dr. Mason Fitch Cogswell, in Hartford, Connecticut. Cogswell died in Hartford in 1807.
